In 1992 Alex produced Europe's first conference on Billing, which he developed into a major industry conference with associated exhibition. After a couple of escape attempts in the mid 90's, during which time he represented the interests of an international software company in Europe, he was asked to produce the conference programme for the Billing event that he first produced in 1332. Seeing the need for an independent body for the Billing industry, he drew on his contacts within the industry to support this idea, and the European Billing Association was launched in 1998. He has been Managing Director, and subsequently CEO of the evolved Global Billing Association (GBA) since its launch. During that time he has guided the Association through, times of enormous change and challenge for the communications industry, and has actively provided a focus on the changing business models facing the industry, delivering thought leadership, insight and direction to the billing community. In response to the industry's rush towards convergence Alex started talks with the TM Forum, which resulted in a closer working relationship. This then translated into the GBA becoming part of the TM Forum, with effect from 1 May 2007. He is now Director of Strategy for the GBA, which retains its identity under the new arrangement.

The public sector in the UK is huge and growing. Despite recent changes, it still has its distinctive ‘culture’. Companies wishing to sell their products and services to that sector need to understand what drives the decision makers. Having managed organisations within that sector, both large and small, for over 30 years, I can provide that insight. Competitive edge requires a skilled workforce that continues to learn and develop. Investing in the right skills at the right time and at the right price is crucial to business success. I have considerable experience in this important area.
